Kudus, 2 Others Charged over Violence in Tottenham Derby

Ghana International Mohammed Kudus has been slapped with a charge of acting improperly and violent conduct in their 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspurs over the weekend.

He has been charged alongside his club, West Ham and Tottenham who stand charged for failing to ensure their players didn’t act violently or provoke others, respectively. They all have been given until October 24 to respond to the allegations.

“Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Mohammed Kudus have been charged following their Premier League match on Saturday, 19 October,” an association spokesperson said.

“Tottenham Hotspur allegedly failed to ensure that their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 82nd minute. West Ham United allegedly failed to ensure that their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way at the same time.

“Mohammed Kudus allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used violent conduct after the offence that he was sent off for. Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Mohammed Kudus have until Thursday, 24 October, to provide their responses.”

Kudus could suffer an extended ban after earning a red card that rules him out of three matches which would see him off the pitch until after the next international break.

The West Ham winger was punished for striking Spurs defender Micky van de Ven and midfielder Pape Matar Sarr during the second half of the game.

He was initially given a yellow card; however, it was upgraded to red after a VAR review.
