Kotoko Suffers Major Blow as Deputy Captain Lord Amoah Ruled Out with ACL

Asante Kotoko SC has been hit with a major blow as Deputy Captain Lord Amoah faces a serious injury, sidelining one of their most influential players at a crucial stage of the season.
The right-back picked up the injury during Kotoko’s hard-fought 2-0 away victory over Young Apostles in round 23 clash, as he was forced off in the 90th minute following a heavy challenge.
The incident immediately raised concern among the technical team, prompting swift medical attention.
Subsequent IMR scans have confirmed the worst fears: ‘Lord Amoah has torn both his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial meniscus, a double setback that will rule him out of action for an extended period, the club posted on social media.’
The severity of the damage means his season is effectively over. The 27-year-old, who has been one of Kotoko’s standout performers with nine direct goal involvements, is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days.
His absence leaves a significant gap, both in Kotoko’s defensive structure and their attacking transitions.
Amoah’s impressive form this season had already placed him on the radar of the Ghana national football team technical handlers, who had been monitoring his progress closely for a potential national team opportunity.
His long spell on the sidelines is a huge setback for both club and country, with Kotoko now needing to adjust quickly as they push on with the remainder of their campaign.
