Kotoko Presents Toyota Cup and Presidential Cup Trophies to Asantehene

Asante Kotoko SC has proudly presented its two new trophies to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The King, who is also the Life Patron of the club, received the management, technical team and playing body at the Manhyia Palace on July 30, 2025.
The club presented the Presidential Cup, which they won after a fierce contest against archrival Hearts of Oak, as well as the Toyota Trophy, which they snatched from Hosts Kaizer Chiefs FC.
Reporting on the President’s Cup, the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah, said, “We last came to inform Otumfuo about a tournament against Kaizer Chiefs. On Saturday, there was a goalless draw after the 90 minutes, so we went into penalties. We managed to score three goals while Kaizer Chiefs FC scored two.”
He recollected how all the odds were against the Porcupines, and yet they exhibited resilience to emerge victorious.
“Going into the game, Kaizer Chiefs was the favourites. They had undertaken their preseason exercise in the US, and we had just mobilised our players. The officiation was skewed in favour of the home team, but then we overcame and emerged winners.”
He furthered, “This is an assurance and comfort that we will do better in the Confederations Cup. We are not promising to win, but we will surely go far.”
On the Presidential Cup, he said, “We earlier faced Hearts of Oak in the President’s Cup and again won the cup.”
The occasion was used to unveil the club’s new jersey for the upcoming season to the King and seek his blessings for the campaign ahead.
