Kotoko Pip Goldstars 2:0
Asante Kotoko Sporting Club bagged all three points at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday, December 27, against Bibiani Goldstars in their matchday 15 game, giving fans what it described as a “perfect” Christmas present.
The Porcupines scored two goals in both halves, denying the visitors a share in the spoil.
A well converted penalty by Justice Blay and a second half goal by Kwame Opoku who made his maiden debut since his re-signing was enough to secure all three points for the hosts.
The penalty came in the 20th minute with the second goal being registered in the 73rd minute of the game.
In a Facebook post, Coach Prosper Ogum’s side called the win a perfect Christmas gift to fans as it thanked them for showing up and playing their role as the 13th player.
“A Perfect Christmas 🎄 Present. Thank you all for coming and drive home safely.”
The result has dropped Goldstars to the third spot with Kotoko taking over the second place.
Kotoko and Goldstars are however equal on points- 27.
Meanwhile, Heart of Lions lead the table with 30 points after 15 games.
Kotoko have impressed in recent days, winning their last four league games.
