Kotoko New Board Transition Will Not Mirror the Past

Mr Kwame Aboagye Mensah, Secretary to the Chief of Staff at Manhyia Palace, has stated that the transition to the new Board of Directors of Asante Kotoko will be seamless and free of divisions.

The Manhyia Palace, last Friday, 27th of February, 2026, officially announced a three-member board, namely, Mr. James Osei Brown, the Chief Executive Officer of Joshob Construction, Mr. Akwasi Osei Ofori, Chief Executive Officer of Rocksure and Mr. Kofi-Abban, Chief Executive Officer of Rigworld Group.
Mr. Kofi Badu, Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace, chaired a meeting to officially present the new Board of Directors to the Interim Management Committee prior to a public announcement.

During this meeting, Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of the IMC, welcomed the new Board and committed to the team’s unwavering support during the transition period.
Mr Kwame Aboagye Mensah disclosed to Eugene Quame Anane of Opemsuo Radio last Friday that the current transition will be entirely different from previous administrative changes, which caused divisions at all levels of the club.
“We knew an Interim Management Committee administration system was temporary, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II notified the current IMC to handle affairs of the team and in due course the Board of Directors will be instituted to align with the rules and regulations of the Ghana Football Association.”
The secretary gave insight into how the transition has been effected smoothly after the introduction and the official communique.

He stated, “The new Board of Directors has started their work immediately after they were officially informed, the IMC members have sent a situational report to the new board, and they will work hand-in-hand until the season has ended.”
“This is a very smooth transition at Asante Kotoko; the current transition will not take other formats. We laid off all members of the administration, which created division and problems during previous transitions.”
