Kotoko Coach Prince Owusu Blames Missed Chances and Home Pressure for Vision FC Draw

Asante Kotoko was left frustrated after being held to a 0-0 draw by Vision FC in their Ghana Premier League match-week 23 encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Despite enjoying long spells of possession — and Vision FC going a man down following the red card shown to defender Alidu Mohammed, the Porcupine Warriors could not find a breakthrough.

The result leaves Asante Kotoko SC in fourth place on the league table with 39 points, as they now prepare for an away trip to face Karela United in their next fixture.

Speaking after the stalemate, head coach Prince Owusu admitted his side lacked precision in the decisive moments.

“It was an open game. Vision is not a bad side. When they get the ball, they do what they want to do and we also play when we get the ball, but when we get to the final turf, we just mess it up, and it’s a problem we need to work on,” he said.

Owusu, however, insisted the title race remains far from decided; “The title chase is not over yet. Have you checked Hearts, Medeama etc. results over the weekend? So the race is still open. We just have to prepare ourselves and then see what we can do when we go to Tamale,” he noted.

“I think they feel a bit pressured when playing at home, and I could see it through the way they performed. When we go away, they are free, they try to play. At Wenchi, it was amazing how they got the two early goals, but today they had similar chances and could not bury them.”

Kotoko will hope to rediscover their scoring touch as they head into another crucial away assignment with the season gradually approaching its final stretch.
