Kojo Antwi Reportedly Loses Home To Fire
Legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Kojo Antwi is reported to have lost his residence at Hong Kong near Kwashieman in the Ablekuma North Constituency of the Greater Accra Region to fire.
The incident is said to have occurred on Sunday, March 3, 2024 night.
It took the immediate response of the Abelemkpe Fire Station to douse the flames which was described by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), A.D.O1 Alex King Nartey as a “dastardly fire”.
In a live Facebook session during efforts to quench the flames, ADO1 Nartey said the fire had destroyed an unspecified number of rooms in the house with drastic efforts to prevent it from spreading to neighbouring buildings.
According to him, it took three fire tenders from two substations to fight the flames.
“Three fire tenders are at the scene. Two from Abelemkpe and one from Anyaa to augment the efforts of the firefighters to that what can be salvaged be salvaged,” he said.
On challenges, the PRO said personnel were battling electricity shocks as efforts to reach out to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to cut electricity supply to the area proved futile.
“ECG has not been able to respond to our call to cut power supply to the area. Hence, it has been a very worrying challenge to our men trying to fight the fire.”
The Service, however, did not confirm the house belonged to the former Ghamro chairman.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained while the maestro is yet to confirm it is his residence.
