KNUST Celebrates Asantehene’s Leadership
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has idolised the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom and their Chancellor, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his influential reign in the past 25 years.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Rita Akosua Dickson, used the occasion of the 57th Congregation of the institution to congratulate the King and lay bare their pride over his achievement.
“Nana Chancellor, on behalf of the entire University Community, we congratulate you, Your Majesty, for a lifetime of dedicated, impactful and inspiring leadership and service to KNUST, Asanteman, Ghana, the continent of Africa and the world.”
She confessed, “We are super proud of what you have accomplished within these 25 years and we celebrate you.”
She also announced a series of programmes the school has outlined to celebrate Otumfuo. This, she stated, would take place from May 6 to 10.
“The University has rolled out an elaborate program working assiduously with the Asanteman Planning Committee ably charged by Nana Otuo Sereboe II, Nana Juabenhene and Chairman of the Council of State to celebrate this momentous occasion.
“KNUST is working feverishly to celebrate the Chancellor’s week from the 6-10 of May 2024 to mark the Silver Jubilee Celebration. Very interesting and educative programmes have been lined up. I urge all of you to consciously save the date and make it a point to join the celebration of a lifetime.”
Asantehene is 25 years on the Golden Stool and to mark it, a carefully laid-out year-long celebration has been planned including a Thanksgiving service, a series of durbars, firework activities and dinners.
He has been the Chancellor of the institution for the past 19 years.
