KMA Announces Refuse Evacuation around Prempeh I International Airport, Other Areas

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced an ongoing refuse evacuation exercise at the Prempeh I International Airport and other selected areas of the metropolis.
In a statement, it said this forms part of efforts to improve sanitation and public health, necessitated by indiscriminate dumping at unauthorised locations resulting from increased human activities within surrounding communities.
“Around the airport enclave, improper waste disposal had attracted birds, particularly crows, posing safety concerns,” it lamented, adding that the ongoing evacuation aims to improve sanitation while reducing bird activity and associated risks.
Other target areas are Asem and Ohwim.
The Assembly urged residents of the Asem Electoral Area to use the newly provided refuse containers, following the evacuation of the former dumping site, while assuring residents of Ohwim of new refuse containers to support proper waste disposal.
“KMA calls on all residents to dump refuse only at designated points. Cleanliness is a shared responsibility; let us all work together to keep Kumasi clean and safe,” it added.
