Kissiman Junction Slum Fire Kills a Baby

A four-month-old baby has been burnt to death by a fire that broke out at the Kissiman Junction slum near Achimota-Samodak in the Greater Accra Region.
The fire started at Wednesday dawn and took firefighters from the Legon and Abelemkpe Fire Stations to douse it.
“Firefighters from the Legon and Abelemkpe Fire Stations responded swiftly, arriving at 0424 hours—just 12 minutes after receiving the distress call at 0412 hours. Their prompt efforts prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, including a warehouse,” a statement by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said.
The remains of the infant have since been handed over to the Police while efforts to unravel the cause of the fire has commenced.
