Kirk Franklin Descends on Christian Concepts Forcing People to Marry
American gospel musician Kirk Franklin has heavily criticized “dysfunctional” Christian concepts that imposes marriage as a prerequisite condition for Ministry work and every believer.
He recognizes that these concepts packaged and misrepresented as the will of God are being used as weapons in Western Christianity with black women bearing the brunt especially at gatherings.
According to him, marriage is being used as a prerequisite for identity in outing in Western part of the world.
“I believe that marriage has been weaponised in Western Christianity. Giving has been weaponised in Western Christianity. Sexuality has been weaponised. Any woman listening to this can attest in our culture. Don’t be 30 or 35 year old single black woman and go to the family reunion. All the older women are going to look at you and wonder why you aren’t married.
“Like it’s a prerequisite for identity in outing that if you don’t have a man and you don’t have kids, then something about you is broken. Do you understand how this dysfunctional messages are and how we super-spiritualize these messages. Paul said marriage is a necessary distraction.”
Kirk in his submission discredited the concept noting that marriage isn’t a prerequisite to work for God as he fell on a portion of Paul’s epistle in Corinthians.
“I have many friends that were in Ministry in church and the churches told them if you want to be in ministry you can’t be single. If you want to be in the youth Ministry you can’t be single and so people quickly get married thinking that they are fulfilling God’s will for their lives but they are fulfilling men’s dogma.
“You can be single and be used by God. You can be single and have purpose. Being married is not a prerequisite for God’s hand on your life. It is not but we have weaponised it and then crucify people when those same marriages fail.”
