KATH Doctors Lay Down Tools Tomorrow
Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have served notice about their intention to embark on an industrial action from Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
The decision emanates from notices of eviction to consultants and specialist doctors living in the Danyame enclave by a private developer.
In a letter to Prof Otchere Addai, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KATH, the Komfo Anokye Doctors Association said they are confronted with daily threats to cut electricity and water supply to their residence by the developer, a development it classifies as inhumane.
“It is scandalous to even consider the eviction of doctors from their homes while alternative arrangements have not been made.”
The doctors plan to stay out of the hospital from tomorrow until their concerns are resolved.
“We are hereby notifying the management of our collective decision to absent ourselves from work in Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital from Wednesday till this matter is completely resolved.”
It condemned the situation and encouraged management of the hospital to exploit all the available avenues to resolve the issue.
