Kasoa Shooting – Hawa Koomson is total embarrassment to democracy – Peace Council Chair admonished
The Chairman of the National Peace Council, Professor Emmanuel Asante has reprimanded Hon. Hawa Koomson, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya East after the latter openly admitted to firing gunshots at a polling station in Kasoa in her constituency as self defense.
“What she has done is an embarrassment to
herself, Parliament and the President who appointed her to such a strategic position as Minister of Special Development Initiatives”, the Chairperson spoke on Manhyia-based Opemsuo FM.
According to the respected clergy, the best for Hon. Hawa Koomsom to do now is to resign from Parliament as a lawmaker and as Minister of State.
“As a honorable and dignified person she should resign to save the President from embarrassment”, Professor Emmanuel Asante told host, George Opoku Mensah during a telephone conversation on “Nkwantananso” show.
Background
On Monday the Kasoa Peace Town Top Hill Down polling station was closed down by the officials of the Electoral Commission after some unidentified men stormed the polling station.
The NDC Parliamentary Candidate Naa Koryoo Okunor then accused the sitting MP of being the mastermind.
Meanwhile, the police says four persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
