Karim Zito Officially Resigns as Kotoko Head Coach

Asante Kotoko’s current head coach has officially quit after the defeat in the Aduana Stars game.
The former Dreams FC coach succeeded Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum on April 22, 2025, and became officially recognised as the club’s head coach on July 20, 2025.
Abdul Karim Zito, a former player at Asante Kotoko, won four trophies during his time with the club, including the President Cup ‘2025, the Toyota Cup in South Africa, the Champion of Champions ‘2025, and the MTN FA Cup 2025.
Abdul Karim played a total of 37 competitive games since his time at the helm of affairs at Asante Kotoko. He won 19 games, lost 7 games and drew 11 games, scoring 50 goals, 31 goals conceded, and his team kept 19 clean-sheets.
Asante Kotoko’s elimination from the MTN FA Cup means they will not participate in CAF club competitions in the following season, especially since their challenge for the league trophy has been on a thin line, citing the consistent performance in results by the league leaders, Medeama Sporting Club.
Asante Kotoko’s official X account had this statement, “Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as the head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect. Management has accepted the resignation, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services and wished him the best for the future. The new technical direction of the club will be communicated in due course.”
Kumasi Asante Kotoko turns its focus to the upcoming super clash of the Ghana Premier League, a Week 22 fixture against its bitterest rival, Accra Hearts of Oak, on the 15th of February, 2026.
