June 4 Demo Rescheduled

“A different date, appropriate route and measures will be communicated in due time”, a member of organisers of the June 4 Demo and broadcaster, Okatakyie Afrifa – Mensah has revealed.

This was after the organisers of the event came under public outrage for writing to the police that they would rather contract private security personnel and arm them to protect protesters on June 4, 2022, the day slated for the beginning of the three days demonstration.

But some of the organisers of the protest have denied having knowledge about the letter to the police.

First, it was Captain Smart during an interview on 3FM.

“I have no knowledge about who drafted the letter, who edited the letter, who typed the final, who actually enveloped it, who sent it to the Ghana Police. It’s insane, it’s barbaric. It doesn’t make sense. Whoever wrote that letter is sick.”

He also called for the arrest of the writer.

Okatakyie Afrifa – Mensah on the other hand, took to his Facebook page to distance himself from the letter.

He described the letter as a “misstep” and stated that efforts are underway to fish out the writer.

“We cannot be asking the current political set up to call out their own when they go wrong and turn around to defend a wrong doing when it happens in our camp.

“Steps are being taken to sanction whoever was responsible for that letter. At no point will I condone any act that seeks to jeopardize the peace and security of this nation. I am equally angry as you guys are but we ask the public to keep calm. We do not stand for violence and will never stand for violence”, he said.
