Julian Alvarez Joins Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid have reached a deal with Manchester City for the permanent transfer of World Cup winner Julian Alvarez at an undisclosed fee.

Alvarez’s contract with the La Liga club will be valid until 2030, it was confirmed in a press statement issued a few days to the commencement of the league.

Alvarez completed his medical examinations at the Centro de Medicina Deportiva de Alto Rendimiento Vithas – Invictum at the Hospital Universitario Madrid Arturo Soria.

“Atlético de Madrid and Manchester City have reached an agreement for the transfer of Julián Alvarez, who has signed for the club until 2030,” a part of the statement read.

The 24-year-old Argentinian joined the Etihad from River Plate in 2022 and immediately established himself as a key player.

He made 103 appearances in all competitions, registering 36 goals and helping City to secure six major trophies including a historic Treble in his first season.

In a heartwarming message, Alvarez thanked fans, technical team and teammates for their role in shaping his career.

According to him, City will always be his home.

“Manchester City will always have a special place in my heart. I wish you every success in the future and I will keep on supporting the club wherever I may be.”
