Journalist Receives Death Threats on Live Show
A radio presenter with Dagbon FM identified as Abubakari Sadiq Gariba received death threats during a live show when his attackers pounced on him in the studio.
In the video, two persons were captured as the attackers.
It is reported that he was in the middle of an interview with the fire service when the incident happened.
He identified one of his attackers whose face was not captured as the former Northern Regional Deputy Communication Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hardi Pagazaa, per a JoyNews report.
The moment the two stormed the studio, they pounced on the presenter who was seated and speaking.
Pagazaa grabbed the presenter’s shirt stock while the other attacker grabbed his right wrist.
The second attacker is heard saying, “Stop talking about him (referring to Pagazaa) else you will die for no reason.”
“What have I done,” the presenter retorts.
This comes as the world marks World Press Freedom Day.
Ghana, in the 2021 World Press Freedom Index published by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), dropped in ranking.
Ghana ranked 30 globally with a score of 78.67%.
According to Mr Gariba, the incident has been reported to the police.
