John Dumelo Announces Free Cocoa Drinks for Pupils in Ayawaso West Wugon
The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wugon, John Dumelo, has announced plans to sponsor free Ghana-made cocoa drinks to students.
The beneficiaries will be pupils from Class 1 to Class 4.
The drinks will be supplied once a week until the end of the year, effective March 2, 2026.
“Cocoa serves as a highly nutritional powerhouse, especially for growing children. It is rich in essential antioxidants, iron, and magnesium, which are vital for cognitive development and maintaining high energy levels throughout the school day,” he justified in a statement issued on Thursday.
Beyond the health benefits, he said the initiative is intended to boost the local cocoa Industry by sourcing exclusively Ghana-made products; enhance school attendance; and create a national pride in local products.
“This program is a testament to our belief that a healthy child is a teachable child,” he emphasised.
