It’s Useless to Win Primary and Lose General Election- Bawumia

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says it is useless for any aspiring President to win the election at the party level and lose at the national level.

This, the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) said, while advocating for a united front ahead of the next general election.

According to him, unity is a key element the party needs now.

“Unity is key. It’s not about winning primaries. What we are doing is building a party machinery that can win the general election. That is what we should be doing- building a party machinery to win a general election not to win a primary. If you win a primary, and you cannot win the general election, then it is a useless victory.”

He continued, “Let us build a machinery to make the party strong so that we can win the general election. We can only do that if we unite. United we stand, divided we fall.”

It is in this spirit, that Bawumia has invited his contenders in the 2024 NPP Presidential Primary for the Thank You tour which begins this Saturday, April 26.
