It’s My Personal Opinion on Akufo-Addo’s Impact – Napo on Nkrumah Comment

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the NPP Presidential Candidate, has issued a public apology following his recent comments on the performance of President Akufo-Addo, which he made on July 9 in Kumasi.

The remarks sparked varied reactions and concerns among the public.

In his statement, Dr. Prempeh clarified that his comments were intended to reflect his personal views on President Akufo-Addo’s impact and were not meant to denigrate any former presidents.

“I wish to emphasize that I never meant to disrespect our former President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, or any of our former heads of state, including my own grand uncle and mentor, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor,” he stated.

Dr. Prempeh acknowledged the concerns raised by his statement and expressed sincere regret for any discomfort caused.

“I apologize sincerely and regret any discomfort caused,” he added.

The statement aimed to address the controversy and reaffirm Dr. Prempeh’s respect for Ghana’s former leaders.

During the event to outdoor Napo as the Running Mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, he lauded the achievements of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, stating, “Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah… no president who has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
