It Is Our Responsibility To Cater For The Needy: SDA Elder To Members
An Elder of the Maakro branch of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Lawyer Francis Acheampong, has called on members to prioritize the welfare of the needy people amongst them.
He says it is the responsibility of the Church to take care of the needy and vulnerable people in society as mandated in the Holy Scriptures. He added, “There are a number of orphans, widows, and other needy people in the church and, it is the duty of the church to provide for some of their needs”.
Lawyer Acheampong made known to the media during their Welfare Day celebration at Maakro in the Suame Municipality over the weekend where the Church as part of the celebration distributed some items to their church members.
On his part, the Chairman of the Welfare Department, Elder Sampson Baah, while touching on the theme for the celebration indicated that giving is the part of service which is expected of Christians as part of their daily activities. He advised that giving should not be based on the value of the item, but rather, on whatever one can afford.
The church presented some money and items to one person with a disability who is not an Adventist during the celebration, Madam Millicent Kyeremaa who expressed appreciation to the church.
