International Fire Fighters Day: Officers Urged To Work With Uttermost Commitment
Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) joined the rest of the world to celebrate the International Fire Fighters Day at its head office at Chirapatre in Kumasi.
International Fire Fighters Day is held each year on 4th May to acknowledge the sacrifices, struggles and commitment of fire personnel in protecting lives and properties.
Speaking to the media, the representative of the Ashanti Regional Minister Rtd. Col. Kofi Arthur thanked the fire personnel for risking their lives to save people and protect properties in the region.
According to Col. Arthur, it is worthy to celebrate these brave personnel and encourage them to do more. He reiterated the continuous commitment of the government to support the GNFS to deliver on its mandate effectively.
The Ashanti Regional Fire Commander, ACFO1 Henry Fatawu Giwa, also congratulated and commended his officers for their continuous devotion to duty in spite of the risk involved to ensure that the communities and environments are as safe as possible.
He further stated that “ours is to save lives, ours is to protect properties” and for that matter urged them to work “diligently and with uttermost commitment even at the peril of our lives”.
