Incident At Terchire That Attested To The Living Spirit of Asante

The living spirit of Asanteman was attested by an incident that transpired at Terchire in the Tano North Municipal in the Ahafo Region in November 2023.

This was during a detour by the Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on his way to Bechem for the burial of Daasebre Amankona Diawuo II.

At the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on July 14, 2025, the Asantehene recollected how the deity of the land manifested after decades of dormancy at his visit.

“What happened on my way to Berekum when I made a stop at Terchire? He {the deity} showed up. When I got there, I was told he {the deity} had not shown up for many years but when I got there, he {the deity} showed up.

“That tells you that something resides there. It is Ghana but when he {the deity} sensed my presence, he {the deity} manifested himself. That is a testament to the fact that Asante is still alive and steadfast. Nothing will diminish. If he hadn’t shown up, Asante’s spirit would have been considered lost, but he made an appearance.”

The Monarch, therefore, asserted that the union with present-day Ghana in no way diminishes the makeup of Asanteman.

“The political administration of the country resulted in your current outlook, however, Tanoso is mine.”

This was before Otumfuo permitted the oath of allegiance by Nana Oteng Baffour Akomea, Tanosohene- a stool that is similarly significant to the Asante.
