Illegal Wiring Has Always Been Unlawful – ECG
Power outages are mostly caused by rains accompanied by excessive thunder.
Ghanaians especially kids should be careful with electrical wires during and after rains, Mr. Boateng Sampson, the Ashanti Regional Electricity Company of Ghana P.R.O has warned.
Speaking on Opemsuo radio’s fastest-growing Morning show Nkwantananso, Mr. Boateng stated that customers mostly indulge themselves in Illegal wiring and connections and will be dealt with when found guilty.
The Ashanti Regional E.C.G Revenue Protection Unit together with Ghana Police are in charge of monitoring the activities of such customers.
He further explained the process involved in the application for a Meter.
According to him, there are two types of Metre application namely : New Service Meter Application and Separate Meter Application.
New Service meter is for newly built houses and Separate Meter is for households already in existence.
The process involved is very simple which starts with application and at a lower cost.
Mr. Boateng admonished customers to patronize the use of their modern software application for payment of bills. The application is available on playstore and app store. Customers without smart phones should also use the Short code 226
“We don’t deal with middle-men widely known as Gorro boys, if you want a meter visit our offices for a legal one” He added.
