Illegal Wiring Caused Kadjebi-Asato SHS Dormitory Fire- Fire Service

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has cited an electrical fault for Tuesday’s fire outbreak at the boys’ dormitory of Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (SHS).

It was noted in a statement that a preliminary investigation showed that it resulted from illegal wiring connections.

The fire, which started on the morning of December 2, destroyed one room and its contents on the first floor.

“The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to a fire at the boys’ dormitory of Kadjebi-Asato SHS after receiving a distress call at 1007 hours on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025.”

Despite lacking a functional fire engine, GNFS personnel, aided by some students, began firefighting and search-and-rescue operations at 1016 hours, successfully averting the total destruction of the dormitory block.

The Service, however, reported that the other rooms and the entire ground floor were salvaged.

It confirmed that 120 students were affected, with about 70 of them collapsing at the scene from shock, panic, and smoke inhalation.

“All affected students have been treated and discharged except two, who are still recovering.”

It added that approximately 58 students lost all personal belongings.
