I’ll Stop Any Attempt to Use Political Power to Destabilise Chieftaincy- Otumfuo Vows

His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has vowed to stop any attempt by politicians to destabilise chieftaincy in his paramountcies and divisional councils across the country.
Addressing the Asanteman Council on December 15, 2025, Asantehene decried the developments in Sampa.
“You can’t get political power and use it to intimidate and cheat others. We will not allow it.”
The King disclosed that the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, is using his political position to push his interest in the Sampa Chieftaincy matter.
“He has written to the government claiming there is a security crisis in the town, and that has been admitted.”
His Majesty recounted how the Minister represented the faction opposing the legitimately enstooled Chief in all court cases they subsequently lost.
After failing on legal grounds, he is leveraging the political power he wields.
Meanwhile, Otumfuo stated that he will give the requisite attention to traditional councils under his authority in the Bono and Bono East regions in the coming year.
“Some chiefs are wavering, but I encourage you all to exercise restraint.”
The resolution of the Sampa chieftaincy conflict paved the way for the enstoolment of Nana Sampa Gyafla and subsequent oath-swearing before the Asantehene and Asanteman in accordance with tradition and constitution.
The losing faction refused to accept the outcome and went ahead to challenge the ruling in court, which they subsequently lost.
