I’ll Personally Ensure Commitments Implementation Under IMF Programme- Finance Minister

The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has committed to satisfying and implementing all conditions under the International Monetary Fund-supported programme.
After the programme suffered deterioration in late 2024, the Minister said he is determined to lead the charge.
He gave the assurances to Ghanaians, the IMF and all stakeholders during a presser on April 15, 2025, after the two-week review by officials of the Fund.
“I would like to use this opportunity to assure the Ghanaian people, the IMF, and other key stakeholders that I will personally lead the charge to ensure the implementation of all our commitments under the Fund-supported programme, which are necessary for the approval of the 4th Review by the IMF Board.”
The IMF staff and Ghanaian authorities have successfully reached a staff-level agreement for the fourth review of Ghana’s three-year program under the Extended Credit Facility.
Ghana is awaiting the needed International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board approval for an additional US$370 million.
The approval will trigger the disbursement of US$370 million, bringing the total IMF financial support disbursements under the arrangement to US$2,355 million.
According to Ato Forson, reaching a Staff-Level Agreement (SLA) on the 4th Review marks significant progress towards building the Ghana We Want.
“We fully recognise the sacrifices made by every Ghanaian as we work together to restore macroeconomic stability, promote inclusive growth, and secure a brighter future for our nation,” he added.
