Ibrahim Tanko Takes Medeama Top Job after Lions Exit
Former head coach of Accra Lions, Ibrahim Tanko has accepted to manage the Yellow and Mauves following his dismissal by Accra Lions.
Exactly two weeks after his exit, based on a “mutual agreement” with the Accra-based club, he took up the role at Medeama SC.
The former Black Meteors coach’s new role was confirmed in a statement by the club on Wednesday and is expected to run for the next two and a half years.
“The UEFA licence A holder has completed formalities and replaces technical director Augustine Evans Adotey, who reverts to his original role.”
Medeama is hoping to prey on his wealth of experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character for their success.
His role takes effect immediately and he will supervise the team’s home game against Legon Cities on Sunday, February 3, 2025.
The former Borussia Dortmund star formerly worked in Japan’s J League and the Bundesliga.
He was also an assistant coach of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions as well as Ghana’s Black Meteors and Black Galaxies.
He takes the club which currently sit 7th with 26 points on the Ghana Premier League (GPL) table.
They have not won any of their last four matches, losing 2-1 to Berekum Chelsea and 1-0 to Accra Lions in their last two games.
