I have taken your wise counsel, Former President Mahama tells Otumfuo

Presidential Candidate for National Democratic Congress (NDC), Former President John Dramani Mahama, has recounted that he is campaigning according to the wise counsel of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.

His Excellency the former President of the Republic of Ghana paid a courtesy call on the occupant of the Golden Stool, Opemsuo Osei Tutu Ababio at Manhyia Palace yesterday as part of his campaign in the Ashanti region.

The visit was to inform the highly revered King about his six days visit in the Ashanti region to step up campaign ahead of the 2020 General elections.

Speaking at the short ceremony at Manhyia, the former President said he is being guided by the words of the highly distinguished monarch of Asante Kingdom.

“The last time I came here, you admonished me to embark on issue-based politics by talking about the things I was able to achieve under my watch, and also, talk about what I am bringing on board.”

The Ex-President reckoned that, “I have taken your wise counsel during my campaign to propagate what I am bringing on board.”

Asantehene, therefore, used the opportunity to admonish all politicians to do away with politics of insults as we are nearing to the General elections to pave way for peaceful elections.

The highly revered King again announced to politicians to accept varied views since all Ghanaians cannot be under the roof of one political party.

Millions of Ghanaians will go to the polls again on December 7, 2020, following the expiration of the mandatory four years of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo as the President of Ghana in the most sacred of all democracy’s rituals, to elect a new leader.

This is the first in the history of Ghana whereby a former President is contesting a sitting President.
