I Esteem Otumfuo Highly- President Ouattara
President Alassane Ouattara has conveyed his deepest respect for the Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
On his maiden visit to the Manhyia Palace on March 5, 2024, the President of Cote d’Ivoire could not hold back but express his admiration for His Majesty.
“I esteem Otumfuo highly,” he declared in a speech delivered on his behalf by the Ambassador of Ivory Coast to Ghana, H.E Assielou Felix Tanon.
He further expressed his appreciation to Otumfuo for an assistance he gave his country during the civil war which lasted for five years following a military rebellion in 2002.
President Ouattara was at the Palace to pay homage to the King on the sideline of the President’s Cup game between Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas and Ghana’s Asante Kotoko SC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
“President Akufo-Addo invited me to the Independence Day celebration and asked that I watch the game between Kotoko and ASEC with him in Kumasi which I accepted due to the friendship between President Akufo-Addo and I. This is what has brought me here today,” he said.
Accompanying him to the Palace were President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah; Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum; Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng; Mr Kudjoe Fianoo, Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCO); and others.
