I Can Point to 33 Policies I’ve Implemented As VP- Bawumia
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says he can boast of over 30 significant policies and initiatives he has implemented in the past seven years in his capacity as a deputy to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The same, he said, cannot be shown by former President John Dramani Mahama who is seeking a comeback on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking at a campaign event as part of his quest to convince Ghanaians to elect him president and give the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) a third consecutive term in power in the December polls, he said Mr Mahama’s bad track record is encouraging his decision to avoid a Presidential debate.
Dr Bawumia alluded to the infamous “Akonfem” saga and erratic power crisis that characterized the tenure of the NDC flagbearer as the only things he’s got to show.
He is certain that the former President is afraid his bad governance would be exposed in a debate and thereby his refusal.
“I asked the former President to show us one of the policies he introduced in his tenure…Just one but he couldn’t. Meanwhile, he claims he did better than us. I challenged him to a Presidential debate but he ran. He is afraid. He ran like the chick. He is afraid.”
He added, “If you ask me about my initiatives as vice president, I can point to 33 of them.”
Earlier this week, Mr Mahama put forth five questions on the economy demanding answers from the vice President. The veep responded with 50 questions to the former President and directed him to come for answers to his “flimsy” five questions in a debate.
