I Am Not Perturbed About Independent Candidate- Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu
The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and MP for Bekwai Constituency, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu, popularly known as Joe Wise, has disclosed that he is not worried about an independent candidate contesting for the upcoming 2020 Parliamentary elections.
The hardworking First Deputy Speaker of Parliament has Kwasi Amofa-Agyeman (Esq), an independent parliamentary candidate from the same New Patriotic Party to beat in the December General Elections.
However, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu is confident to leapfrog his opponent in the Election without any toil following the hard work done in his constituency.
According to reports, history is about to repeat itself in Bekwai, following the intention of Mr. Amofa-Agyemang, who is a legal practitioner, to contest the 2020 Parliamentary elections as an independent candidate.
In an exclusive interview with George Opoku Mensah (Agudey) on Opemsuo 104.7 FM morning show, Nkwantannanso, said, “I feel the NPP will win 80,000+ in the Bekwai Constituency and I can’t be perturbed by my opponent who has done nothing for the party.
I moved from Koforidua to Bekwai in 1994, and I duly paid my dues before contesting for Parliamentary seat in 2008.”
“ I have never met him doing something for the party, so, we didn’t need to do any mafia to do away with him. At the time the party was in distress in 2016, and we were asked to adopt one polling station, not even polling station in his hometown did he choose to care for it.”
On November 8, 2008, Osei Owusu launched his campaign as an independent candidate after he lost by a single vote to the then sitting MP, Ignatius Kofi Poku at an NPP primary.
In protest, he contested the seat as an independent candidate in the general elections and won massively.
