I Always Come to Visit Otumfuo to Drink from His Wisdom and Prayers- Emir of Kano State

The Emir of Kano State in Nigeria, His Royal Highness Dr Mallam Sanusi Lamido II, has revealed the motivation behind his constant visits to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, anytime he is in Ghana.
According to him, these visits allow him to drink from His Majesty’s invaluable wisdom and prayers.
On his fourth visit to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on December 20, 2025, he expressed his profound appreciation for the acceptance of his request to visit as well as the reception he received.
“It is an honour once more to be received by you in this Palace. I am here in Kumasi for the fourth time…Each and every occasion I’ve had the opportunity of meeting you and benefiting from your wisdom and your prayers.”
Recalling his third visit, which he made while facing a major challenge, he said the prayers of Otumfuo worked the impossible.
At the time, he was on the verge of dethronement, he recalled.
“I would like to thank you. The last time I was here, I was still at the end that I had been dethroned as Emir, and I remember you promised and prayed that I would go back to my throne, and I am back here on the throne.”
He was in Kumasi for an event and deemed it imperative to pay a courtesy visit to the Asantehene to “pay my respects and renew the fraternal relationship which you had with my predecessor.”
“Thank you for your kindness and generosity.”
Fit for the Position
Welcoming him, the Asantehene affirmed his unflinching support for him, saying he was rightly enthroned.
“I still assure you that I will continue to be there for you. You have a heart, and you have done so much for Nigeria, and I still believe you can do so much in this position, so I will encourage you not to leave it to politicians but continue to do the best that you can…If Nigeria and Ghana prosper, we all prosper.”
His Majesty hailed the Emir for being a leading light and encouraged him to speak truth to power.
“I believe in telling the truth to power, and I don’t mince my words at all. I’m always straightforward to the point in telling the truth.”
Meanwhile, Otumfuo promised to pay him a visit in Nigeria.
The delegation of the Emir included Sheikh Abdul Wadud Haruna (National President of the Tijjaniya Muslim Movement of Ghana), Alhaji Sanusi Galadima of Kano (Chief of Staff), Alhaji Mujtaba (Sarki Yaaki of Kano and brother to the Emir), Alhaji Ashiraf Sanusi and Alhaji Aminu Sanusi (sons of the Emir and Chiroma of Kano) and Alhaji Abdul Ali (Asanteman Zongo Nkosuohene).
