I Adore Clubs with Stadiums that Make Noise – Dede Ayew Reveals Why He Joined Eredivisie Side

André Morgan Rami Ayew, a record holder as Ghana’s all-time most capped player with 120 appearances, has spoken on his decision to join NAC Breda in the Eredivisie.
The BBC African Footballer of the Year in 2011, Dede Ayew, signed a short-term contract with Dutch club NAC Breda in December of 2025, with the ambition that he is a true sportsman to help their quest for survival in the Eredivisie.
The substantive captain of the Black Stars, Dede Ayew, after his first appearance in the Eredivisie against Groningen on 10th January, 2026, has a total of 206 minutes for his side in the league.
The son of the football icon, Abedi Ayew Pele, has contested against clubs in the league such as Groningen, Nijmegen, PSV Eindhoven, FC Twente, Excelsior and Heracles and has earned three draws, two losses, and one win.
The Ghanaian captain, Ayew, joined other Ghanaian players like Kamal Sowah and Dennis Odoi, but the team has not been able to climb out of the relegation place and trails G.A Eagles by four points to be safe in the league.
Ayew shared his point of view in an interview with ESPN on the impact Ghanaian players like as Dennis Odoi and Kamal Sowah affected his decision to join Rat Verlegh Stadion.
“My agent called me and told me about the interest from this club and also other clubs. Knowing that Dennis is here, Kamal is here, I discussed with the head scout, the sporting director, and the coach. It didn’t take very long for me to decide to come here because the discussions were good. The football project, the idea, the challenge, the city,” Ayew said.
Ayew justified his decision to join NAC Breda despite other offers from clubs around Europe.
Dede stated, “I’m a footballer, and I always want to play at the highest level. I’m a player who plays with a lot with energy and loves clubs with stadiums that make noise.”
