Hughton Names Squad For Comoros And Madagascar Clashes

The head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has named 25 players for the November World Cup qualifiers against Comoros and Madagascar.

He has called up Joseph Wollacot who has been out of show in international duties due to injury, Lawrence Ati Zigi and Richard Ofori for the goal post and Inaki William, Antoine Semenyo and Jonathan Sowah as attackers.

The 64-year-old Irish football Manager who is rumoured to lose his job as head coach of the Black Stars this time around called up Andrew Ayew who missed the country’s recent friendlies.

He will be joined in the midfield by Baba Iddrisu, Majeed Ashimeru, Abdul Samed Salis, Edmund Addo and Mohammed Kudus.

Hughton for his defence called up Daniel Amartey, Abdul Mumin, Abdul Fatawu Hamid, Kasim Adams, Nicholas Opoku, Denis Odoi, Alidu Seidu and Gideon Mensah.

His wingers include Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew, Red Star Belgrade’s Osman Bukari, Genk’s Joseph Painstil, Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah and Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Ghana will take on Madagascar at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday, November 17, 2023, before their second qualifier against Comoros at the Moroni Stadium on November 21.

 

The next FIFA Men’s World Cup will take place in 2026 in Canada, the USA and Mexico between June and July 2026.

Ghana will be seeking to make their fifth World Cup appearance with the qualifiers after qualifying for the tournament in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022.
