House Helps In Police Custody For Allegedly Drugging Employer’s 2-year-old Sons

Two house helps have been remanded into police custody for allegedly drugging the two-year-old twin boys of their employer at East Legon.
It followed their arrest by the Accra DOVVSU Division.
The accused were identified by the police as 30-year old Francisca Boakye , a student nurse in the Ashanti Region and Harriet Ansah from the Oti Region.
They are alleged to have consistently administered sleep drug to the two-year-olds through their daily milk since their employment eight months ago, the police said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
“The businesswoman, 40, said she had observed an unusual drowsiness and behavioural change in her two sons in September.”
“This, they said made them sleep for extended hours so they could attend to house chores.”
Harriet is said to have admitted to the crime, saying she learnt of the drug and its potency from Francisca.
She is also said to have confessed to subjecting them to other forms of abuse.
They will reappear in court on October 20, the police revealed.
It added, “The police command strongly condemn such inhumane acts against children and urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant in the supervision of domestic staff.”
