Hon Osei Owusu Details Polling Arrangements for NPP Primaries, Confirms Additional TESCON Delegates

Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Election Committee, has outlined arrangements for the party’s upcoming presidential primaries, including adjustments to polling centres and the inclusion of additional delegates.
Speaking on Nkawantannanso on Opemsuo Radio, he said 277 polling centres, including the party headquarters, will be operational nationwide. Larger centres with over 1,000 delegates will be split to prevent congestion.
“All because we do not want those voting at a centre to be more than 1,000. In Bekwai, they are 1,012; they will be one polling station, but the polling booth will be two. In Domie Kwabenya, where there are almost 2,000 delegates, they will get three or more polling stations,” he explained.
Hon. Osei Owusu also confirmed that while 211,849 delegates are currently registered, additional 58 or 59 TESCON members will now be included following a decision by the National Executive Committee. Previously, they were excluded because their election fell too close to the primaries, but the NEC decided we should include them to ensure fairness and full representation.
“On Wednesday (28th Jan) we will have a meeting…the National Executive Committee said we should add them, which means the number will be a little more than the 211,849. With this, we will do additional register for the EC,” he said.
Representatives of the presidential contestants will also attend the meeting to finalize arrangements and ensure transparency in the voting process.
