Ho and Hohoe to Be Upgraded to Metropolitan Assemblies

President John Dramani Mahama has given the necessary directive for the upgrade of two Municipal Assemblies into Metropolitan Assemblies.

They include Ho and Hohoe.

Announcing it during the cutting ceremony for the Oxygen City housing project in Ho in the Volta Region, on December 17, 2025, he said the Ministry of Local Government had begun the requisite process.

“Ho and Hohoe have been identified. Hohoe is also going to be a Metropolitan Assembly.”

Additionally, he mentioned plans to upgrade other districts.

“There are other districts that are going to be upgraded to Municipal status, and it will be announced in due course.”

He further affirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable urban development.

“Let me assure you that government remains firmly committed to the enabling environment that is necessary for planned, transparent and sustainable urban development.”
