High Court Grants OSP Application for In Camera Testimony in Galamsey Fraud Case

The Criminal Division of the High Court has granted an application by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for its first prosecution witness to testify in camera.

The court while granting the application cited a significant risk to the witness should his identity be publicly disclosed.

Charles Bissue and two others are on trial for alleged corruption and abuse of office.

They have been accused of bypassing procedures of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) to benefit a company deemed unqualified.

The case stems from a media investigation and a subsequent complaint to the OSP, which triggered their arrests and the current prosecution.

All three have pleaded not guilty.

They also opposed a prosecution request to permit an investigative journalist involved in the media exposé to give evidence.

The case has been adjourned to 12 January 2026 for trial.
