He’s Innocent Until Proven Otherwise- Lil Win’s Lawyer

Margaret Mary Adjei Twum, the lawyer of actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win has stated that his client is not guilty of any of the charges he is accused of until proven otherwise.

This statement comes as they made their third appearance at the Asokore Mampong District Court today, July 29, 2024.

During the proceedings, the prosecutor noted that the docket is still under review at the Attorney General’s office.

Addressing journalists after court proceedings, the lawyer said she was prepared to defend the innocence of her client.

“We will defend because we are so standing on his innocence. We still believe in his innocence until proven otherwise. We will still pursue our posture and the theory of our case will change when we have the reports from the Attorney General.”

She said her client was looking forward to seeing the family who lost their child in the accident heal, as she noted that the incident took a negative toll on the well-being of the actor.

“We want to think as reasonable human beings. And then we pray that as time flies, the family of the deceased will have some sort of comfort, and closure. We are not so much conscious about the money. Now we pray that the family members will be healed and then things will be fine.”

Background
An accident on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Amakom in the Ashanti Region involving the vehicle of the actor, claimed the life of a three-year-old.

Eyewitnesses said Lil Win was overspeeding when he veered off his lane into an oncoming vehicle.

The boy who at the time was in his father’s vehicle was rushed alongside his father to the Anwiam Hospital. They were both referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where the boy eventually died.

Lil Win was arrested on Monday, June 3, 2024, following his discharge from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) by the Manhyia Divisional Police Command’s Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) officers.

Videos on his arrest showed the actor being escorted towards the police vehicle in a wheelchair with a neck brace and decorated in bandages on some body parts.

He was arraigned in the Asokore Mampong District Court on June 3 and charged with dangerous driving, negligently causing harm and the use of an unregistered branded car.

He was released on GH¢50,000 bail by the court.

During the last sitting, the court was told that the docket had been sent to the Attorney General for advice.
