Helicopter Crash: USA Providing Assistance To Investigation Board

The United States of America (USA) is assisting Ghana in unravelling the mystery behind the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
In a statement, the Acting Minister for Defence, Cassiel Ato Forson, announced the official commencement of work by the investigative body headed by the National Security Coordinator.
The Board has its membership drawn from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
It explained that the team from the US are visiting investigators from the country’s Air Force.
In addition to the expertise of the USA, it said the acting Minister noted that the Board, as part of its work, may invite other relevant experts and institutions, both local and international, to assist with the investigation.
The Investigation Board has been mandated to complete its work within 30 days.
Meanwhile, the preliminary investigation team constituted to gather all available evidence relating to the crash in support of the Board’s work is scheduled to submit its report to the Board today.
Crash
A GAF helicopter crashed on August 6, 2025, in Adansi Akrofrom in the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
It also claimed the lives of Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General, NADMO, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manden Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
