Hearts Confirm Departure of Richard Atta, 3 Others

Accra Hearts of Oak have confirmed the departure of four players ahead of the start of the next season.

They include Yakubu Zakaria, Richard Atta, Issah Akubah and Salifu Ibrahim.

In a transfer update on August 7, 2024, the Phobia justified the status surrounding each of the four released players.

Per the brief information available, centre-back Zakaria leaves after a mutual agreement for the termination of his contract while goalkeeper Atta whose sudden weight gain last season caused stir was released.

Atta’s weight became the talk of town after a clash between Hearts and their archrivals Asante Kotoko put him in the spotlight with many questioning his fitness level.

For 31-year-old Issah Akubah, the Club said he has transferred to Vision Football Club, while Salifu like Atta has been released.

Hearts last week commenced preseason activities at the Kpobiman Sports Complex in Accra.

Coach Ouattara is certain that with discipline on the part of the team, the desired results will be realized in the next season which begins on September 6.

“This season, we must be disciplined both on and off the field,” he asserted in a conversation with the Club’s media.

“Our success will be built on hard work, respect, and commitment to each other…Pre-season is just the beginning. The true measure of our discipline and hard work will be seen throughout the season. Let’s stay focused.”

Hearts will open the next season with a game against Premier League debutantes, Basake Holy Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
