Health Ministry Investigates Alleged Delay In Response to Accident Victims at Ridge Hospital

The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced an investigation into the alleged delay in the medical response by practitioners to some accident victims at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) Emergency Department.

In a statement, the Ministry said the probe would identify the circumstances that led to the reported delay in care and address any gaps that may have contributed to the incident.

It, however, condemned the reported interference, aggression, and assault on health workers on duty at the time of the incident.

“The Ministry views this development with utmost seriousness, as such actions compromise the delivery of critical healthcare services and endanger the lives of both patients and healthcare providers.”

It has since beefed up security at the facility to ensure the safety of staff, patients, and the general public.

“The Ministry reiterates that the safety and protection of healthcare workers remain a top priority, and it will not tolerate any acts that threaten their well-being or disrupt essential healthcare delivery.”

Meanwhile, the Minister for Health, Hon Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, visited the hospital for first-hand information and has assured Management and staff of the Ministry’s support and protection.

“We call on the public to exercise patience, cooperation, and mutual respect at all times to enable healthcare workers to provide effective and timely care,” it added.
