Health Minister Constitutes Committee to Investigate Alleged Unethical Practices at Korle Bu, Ridge
The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has constituted a seven-member committee to look into alleged unethical medical practices at two health facilities in the Greater Accra Region.
The medical facilities include the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge).
The Committee is tasked with conducting a comprehensive and independent inquiry while assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of existing governance, oversight, and control systems in preventing unethical and unauthorised practices within the affected health facilities.
It has to submit its final report and recommendations to the Ministry by February 10, 2026.
The Ministry, in a statement, assured the general public of its full cooperation with the Committee as it reiterated its unwavering commitment to upholding ethical standards and restoring public confidence in Ghana’s healthcare system.
The Investigation Committee is chaired by Alhaji Dr(Pharm) Inua Yusuf, Esq. – Head/Dir Legal Affairs, Ministry of Health and composed of:
Dr. Eric Kofi Ngyedu – CEO, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital & Dean of CEOs for Teaching Hospitals
b. Dr. Adam Abass – Neurosurgeon, Tamale Teaching Hospital & President, Ghana Academy of Neurosurgeons
c. Dr. George Sabblah – Deputy CEO (Technical Operations) of Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) & Representative for FDA
d. Dr. Nicholas Adjabu – Biomedical Engineer- Biomedical Engineering Unit, Ministry of Health
e. Dr. Frederick Kwarteng – Representative, Ghana Medical Association (GMA) & Head of Department of Trauma & Orthopedics & Department of Accident and Emergency of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital
f. Prof. John Osae-Kwapong – Democracy and Development Fellow, CDD-Ghana & Rep, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)
