Hamamat Montia Appointed Ghana’s Cultural Ambassador for Shea Butter

Former Ghanaian beauty Queen and entrepreneur Hamamat Montia has landed an appointment as Ghana’s ambassador for shea butter.
The appointment was announced by the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, on Tuesday during an event to honour her.
According to the Ministry, this reinforces culture as a strategic pillar of national development.
At the recognition ceremony, the Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, highlighted Shea Butter as a symbol of indigenous knowledge, women’s empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods, while calling for greater investment in culture-driven industries.
For her part, Montia underscored the global economic potential of the Shea Butter industry and the need to move from exporting raw materials to producing premium Ghanaian products for international markets.
The appointment is expected to strengthen Ghana’s cultural diplomacy, expand women-led enterprises, and position Ghana as a global hub for Shea Butter and indigenous natural skincare products.
It comes after her Shea Butter Museum gained prominence on a visit by YouTube sensation IShowSpeed.
