GTA CEO Visits Victims of the Amedzofe Canopy Walk Accident

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, has paid a visit to victims of the Amedzofe Canopy Walk accident.

Upon receiving the report, the GTA Volta Regional Director promptly visited the site to obtain first-hand information and engage management of the facility on the circumstances surrounding the occurrence.

During her visit, the CEO extended heartfelt well-wishes to all affected individuals and their families, underscoring that visitor safety is a non-negotiable priority.

“Our thoughts are with every victim and every family affected by this unfortunate incident. Tourism must be safe and dependable, and we are committed to ensuring that all safety lapses—if any—are fully addressed. Your well-being matters to us.”

She also provided cash donations and essential items to support the victims as they recover.

An accident occurred at the Amedzofe Canopy Walkway in the Volta Region following an issue with one of the small exit pillars.

According to the management of the facility, no deaths were recorded, although some visitors sustained injuries.

The facility has since been closed to make way for a team of local and international engineers to carry out a full structural assessment and guide the next steps.

Meanwhile, the GTA said it was closely monitoring ongoing investigations by the relevant authorities.

“The Authority will communicate the findings and any required corrective actions once investigations are concluded.”
