GRIDCo, ECG Announce Interim Power Cut to Cape Coast for Transformer Upgrade

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) have announced a temporary power cut to Cape Coast and the surrounding areas next week.
This is to make way for the final phase of upgrading a 66MVA power transformer at the Cape Coast Substation.
The work will be undertaken on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
In a joint statement, they said the transformer upgrade will significantly enhance the substation’s capacity, enabling improved and reliable power supply for residents and businesses in Cape Coast and surrounding areas, while improving the overall quality and stability of electricity supply in the region.
“GRIDCo and ECG have put in place all necessary measures to ensure that the final works are completed promptly and power supply restored within the scheduled time,” it assured while apologising for the accompanying inconvenience.
