GRA Inaugurates VAT Compliance and Enforcement and Initiative Committee Members

The Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, has launched the National VAT Compliance and Enforcement Initiative together with its Committee Members.

It comes as the Domestic Tax Revenue Division of the GRA intensifies efforts to improve and strengthen VAT compliance across Ghana this year.

The initiative forms part of measures to support the implementation of the VAT reforms that took effect earlier this year under the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act, 2023 (Act 1151).

According to the Commissioner-General of the GRA, there is currently a 60 percent gap between the revenue the GRA is capable of collecting from VAT and what is actually realized.

Inaugurating the Committee, Mr Kwasi Sarpong said this highlights the urgent need to intensify efforts to close this gap.
