Gov’t Has Deepened Decentralisation In Ahafo – Minister
Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. George Boakye has announced that the current Akufo-Addo government after the creation of the Ahafo Region has deepened decentralization, bringing the government more closely to the people than before.
Briefing the press on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, through the Information Ministry, the Minister said the government in its efforts to deepen decentralization and support the Ahafo Region’s capacity has initiated a couple of projects to make it feasible.
He mentioned the establishment of the Region’s National Health Insurance Scheme, Regional Police Headquarters, High Court, Circuit courts, Magistrate Courts, Regional Highway Complex, Bungalows, Regional Office Block for the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as Regional Office for Youth Employment Agency and many others all the verge of completion to see to the execution of their respective mandates
The Ahafo Regional Minister said the government has kept his promises and reasons upon which he sought the votes of the citizens of these regions to be further partitioned. That is to enable development and break the barrier of remoteness in government.
According to him, new developmental projects in the Ahafo Region have reduced the stress of having to go to Sunyani before getting access to simple services.
Hon. Boakye stated that the government since the creation of the Ahafo Region has embarked on numerous developmental projects and brought the government closer to the people. Such of these projects include ongoing work of the Regional Coordinating Council’s administration block in Goaso which is on the verge of completion.
There is also ongoing work of the Regional Health Directorate and two member residential apartments for Officers of the Health Director and Staff at Hwediem which is about 55% and 100% complete respectively, he noted.
He added that there is also a progressively ongoing work of the Regional Education Directorate and residential apartments for Officers which are completed and handed over to the regional Education Directorate and many others.
