Govt Fails to Complete 2-Bedroom House Awarded to 2021 Best Fish Farmer
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asunafo South, Hon Eric Opoku has accused the government of abandoning a two-bedroom house awarded to 2021 Best Fish Farmer.
According to him, the government has failed to complete the house due to delay in payment from the Ministry of Finance.
Commenting on annual budget estimate of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development for the year 2024, the MP who is also a Ranking Member of the Agriculture Committee of Parliament Committee stressed the government inability to allocate funds for the ministry to achieve their target which has been captured in the committee’s report.
“Mr Speaker, it will shock you to know when the committee met with the ministry, that the 2-bedroom house awarded to the 2021 best fish farmer is still under construction due to financial challenges. Mr Speaker, government has abandoned the decision of awarding the best farmer with a house. So how can we encourage our hard working farmers?”
The committee therefore urged the Ministry of Finance to release the amount of GHC500,000.00 for the completion of the 2-bedroom house awarded to the 2021 Best Fish Farmer.
